The drama East of Eden centers the vicious and violent clash between two families of a coal mining town: Shin Tae-hwan's family, who is the son in law of the owner of the coal mining company called the Taesung Group and Lee Ki-chul's family, who is working for Taesung and is a union leader. The families fate were forever connected when the two babies of each family that was born in the same hospital the same day were deliberated switched by a nurse to revenge the abandonment by Shin Tae-hwan. The killing of Lee Ki-chul by Shin Tae-hwan ignited bitter grudges between the two families that span generations. Relations between the two families continued to sour over the next decade during the years that the two switched babies - Lee Dong Wook and Shin Myung Hun were grown up. Dong Wook grows up to become a prosecutor and vows to help his brother seek revenge. But what happens when they find out that they're not brothers? What will Dong Chul do when he finds out that his real brother was raised by Shin Tae Hwan and that the brother that was beside him all these years is the son of his enemy?
