Dong Yi is a historical korean drama series. It is set during the reign of King Sook Jong and is based on the life of Choi Suk-Bin. Suk-Bin was born as a commoner, but rose to a royal position by winning the heart of King Sook Jong... Dong-Yi, born an orphan, treats those around her with sincerity and kindness. During a court intrigue she encounters the King who quickly falls in lover with her. As she rises up the ranks toward royalty, she works to give justice to those born as commoners like she was. She gains many allies due to her warm personality and learns to survive through the political infighting in the royal court. She raises her son as a kind, educated young man with discipline on his way to eventually becoming the king.
