Chae-kyeong is a simple commoner. However, due to a prior agreement her grandfather had made, she is set to marry the current Crown Prince of Korea, Lee Shin so he can take over the throne. Chae-kyeong initially rejects the idea, but eventually relents so that she can help her debt-ridden family. She struggles to adapt to the life of royality and to her emotionless new husband and begins to develop a friendship with her husband's cousin Lee Yul. As Yul develops feelings for Chae-kyeong, Lee Shin's old love arises back up with Hyo-rin. Things get even more out of hand when the royal family attempts to interfere.
